N2 - The term 'technical action' is commonly used in literature. Despite its wide use however, the term hasn't been properly defined. The purpose of this research was (1) the definition of the term, (2) to show the importance of technical actions for the personal growth, (3) to study technical actions of children and (4) to discuss the relevance of the results regarding technical education. Beside the definition, a technical model has been developed, integrating the environment as well as the motivation for the realization of the actions and their consequences. This study shows significant influences of technical action on personal growth (self-concept of ability, intentional self-development, ability to monitor and to regulate action, setup of the categorical system of concepts) and on the development of the ability to symbolically impart interactions. Based on the results of the phenomenological description of the technical actions of children, a model of process structures of technical education has been developed. The used database were observations of technical actions from children (three different repair-exercises, n=20, age 9-10).
